- FUNERAL HELP has been so generous! Once again, many of you have donated food or assistance in serving at the hospitality events following recent funeral services. God bless you for sharing your gifts!
- THE YEAR OF THE QUILT is the theme of the East Central Cluster Soup Supper on Thursday 10/25/12 (starting at 6:00 pm) – a fun evening of sharing information, food, and fellowship. All women are welcome! The annual free event will be held at St Mark’s Lutheran Church (2499 N Helen St, North St Paul). There will be a Quilt Show & Tell, so bring your stories, samples and ideas to share. RSVP’s are due by October 22 to: Tricia [tricianiesche@yahoo.com] or Vernell [vernellcolston@rocketmail.com].
- EAST CENTRAL CLUSTER FALL MEETING will be held Thursday 11/01/12 at St Paul Lutheran Church in Stillwater {609 – 5th St S, Stillwater 55082; 651-439-5970; www.stpaullc.org }. There is a $5 registration fee for the event, which includes a light dessert. Women of Hope members will serve as ushers for this session (pass out programs, collect the offering after the speaker finishes, count that money, and give it to one of the Cluster Leaders). Look for a sign-up sheet at the Welcome Center. The Program Speaker, Teresa Forliti, will share information about the issue of human trafficking and the programs provided by Breaking Free {www.breakingfree.net; 651-645-6557) to help victims. In addition to her personal testimony, we will learn how women and girls are recruited, about barriers to escape, and what can be done to help them get out. Breaking Free will offer a boutique of items for sale, made by survivors; all proceeds benefit local victims. A freewill offering will be taken, to be shared between Breaking Free and WELCA, St Paul Area Synod. The material offering will be for Thanksgiving baskets for the women and their families at Breaking Free: non-perishable food items and gift cards {Cub or Rainbow, $10-$15}, so the women can purchase perishable items such as meat and milk.
- EAST CENTRAL CLUSTER still needs to provide one person for the SWO Nominating Committee (begins work in January 2013); and women for our Cluster’s Leadership Board – one person to take the two-year term and one for a one-year term.
