Have you ever considered talking about faith with our youth? One of the ways we learn about our faith is to discuss it with others. We are looking for Faith Mentors to work with our confirmation youth before and during Lent. A mentor is, “a wise and trusted friend”. We hope that our faith mentors can provide our youth with another adult to have conversations around faith and building a relationship with God, living a Christian life, as well as, why it is important as Christians to serve and care for others.
There will be a mentor training on Wednesday February 6, (the Wednesday prior to Ash Wed.) The content of mentor meetings will be discussed at that meeting. Meetings with ‘mentees’ will be held in public places where others will be present at all times. Safety and trust are keys to a good mentor and mentee relationship.
Some of our goals for our mentor partnerships this year include helping our students memorize two important Scripture verses; to revise their faith statements; and talk about why we are confirmed and what life in church is like beyond confirmation. If you are interested in assisting as a mentor, please fill out a Mentor Interest Sheet which can be found at the Welcome Center desk and the return it to the church office. You can call Intern Corey Lange or Pastor Dan if you have additional questions. Thanks!
