Pastor Annie Langseth
To all God’s beloved at House of Prayer:
I am so grateful for this new beginning with you, and I appreciate the warm welcome you have extended to not only me but to my “assisting minister,” Hammie, as well. I look forward to getting to know all of you more and more in the days, weeks, months, and years ahead! Additionally, I’m hopeful about where the Holy Spirit will lead us in our mutual ministry and shared service.
You’ve perhaps seen my biography that was previously shared, but I thought I would “divulge” a few out-of-the-ordinary tidbits to help you get to know me better:
- I grew up in Minot, ND, which is also known as the “Magic City” because it appeared to pop up on the map overnight in 1886, as if by magic, after the Great Northern Railway laid track through the area. The town slogan is “Why Not Minot?” and I carry that positive reminder on me via a “Why Not” tattoo on my left ankle.
- As a first grader in 1990, I won a mutton bustin competition during the annual Minot Y’s Men’s Pro Rodeo. I was so proud to have finally earned a trophy like my big brother that it didn’t matter one iota to me that the sheep had stepped on my head after I fell off. Though it hurt to smile, I grinned from ear to ear as I
was led back to my seat with my prized trophy in tow…and a bruised, swollen face. (Don’t worry, I was a-okay!) - During my senior year of college at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, I mailed an oil pastel drawing to a nonprofit organization founded by Mariska Hargitay who portrays Detective Olivia Benson on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. As a result of that, I ended up being referred to as “the artist” in a Page Six article in the New York Post and was invited to meet her in New York City. It was a dream come true!
I’m eager to learn some of your own out-of-the-ordinary tidbits and excited to accompany you in your faith journey! Thank you for calling me to join House of Prayer Lutheran Church as your pastor. I am delighted to be here!
Peace be yours,
Pastor Annie Langseth
